The illness began with a burst appendix, which required immediate surgery. During the operation, the doctors discovered that his intestine was also bleeding. They removed the appendix and managed to stop the bleeding in the intestine. He recovered, and we were discharged from the hospital after two weeks. However, shortly after returning home, we noticed that one side of his stomach was swollen. We returned to the hospital and spent another two weeks there. During this time, I had to leave due to my mother’s death. My daughter later called to inform me that the swelling had persisted. I returned to the hospital, where we were told that another surgery was necessary, costing 700,000 Naira. Unable to afford this, we were advised to raise at least 500,000 Naira to begin treatment. We started soliciting for help and were able to raise some funds. The surgery was performed yesterday, and the doctors discovered a balloon-like structure containing water adhered to his liver. They couldn’t remove it immediately, as doing so might endanger his life. Instead, they decided to gradually evacuate the water by connecting his intestine to the balloon-like structure, allowing the water to exit with excreta. They also conducted a laboratory test to determine the cause of the balloon-like structure, fearing it might be another illness or cancer. Yesterday, I took the water sample from his stomach to the laboratory for testing, but I don’t know when the results will be available. My current concern is raising money for his medication and hospital bills, which amount to 12,500 Naira per day, not knowing how long we will stay. The cost of drugs is also very high, sometimes reaching 90,000 Naira. If I had known you were coming, I would have brought the receipts as evidence. I am now looking to your foundation for assistance.
